Wyoming Youth for Natural Resources

Inspiring the Next Generation of Conservation Leaders

The Wyoming Youth for Natural Resources (WYNR) Grant Program helps young people explore, understand, and care for Wyoming's wildlife and natural resources through hands-on learning. By supporting meaningful conservation projects and outdoor experiences, these grants empower youth to develop the knowledge, skills, and curiosity needed to become tomorrow's environmental stewards.

Funding Projects That Put Youth at the Center

The Wyoming Youth for Natural Resources Grant Program is open to public schools, youth organizations, nonprofit organizations, and, in some cases, public agencies that engage Wyoming youth in science-based conservation and natural resource education. Grants are awarded to projects that provide meaningful, hands-on participation rather than passive learning, encouraging young people to actively explore Wyoming's wildlife, habitats, and natural resources.

Strong proposals typically:

  • Address a wildlife or natural resource conservation issue relevant to Wyoming.
  • Engage youth as active participants in planning, learning, or stewardship.
  • Encourage volunteerism and conservation-minded leadership.
  • Incorporate science, technology, or innovative approaches to outdoor learning.
  • Include measurable outcomes and a plan for lasting impact beyond the grant period.
  • Demonstrate collaboration with schools, agencies, nonprofits, or community partners when possible.
